San Joaquin County Family Justice Center Camp HOPE 2017

Camp HOPE focuses on physically and sexually abused children, as well as children exposed to family violence. Law enforcement professionals, social workers, and prosecutors from District Attorney’s Offices across America bring children to participate in Camp HOPE.

Since 2014, the San Joaquin County Family Justice Center (SJCFJC) has sent at-risk children from our community to experience Camp HOPE. The curriculum at Camp HOPE includes prevention and education activities. The activities focus on creating resiliency in order to reduce the likelihood of these children repeating the cycle of violence experienced by their parents. Campers are accompanied by trained and background checked counselors and professionals.

Campers engage in fun pre-camp and post-camp events to allow them an opportunity to get to know and visit with their counselors and fellow campers. Campers are are provided round-trip transportation to camp and engage in activities like field games, rock climbing, tubing, ropes courses, art projects, hiking, fishing, rafting, campfires, making s’mores, and more for 5-days and 4-nights.

All costs associated with Camp HOPE are covered by the SJCFJC Foundation. Approximate cost per camper is $500. Costs include registration, transportation, sleeping bags, swimming gear, water bottles, flashlights, pre and post camp events, and miscellaneous camping necessities.
